Statement from VBG CEO Josh Smith on U.S. House Veterans' Affairs Committee Passage of Choice for Veterans Act

Las Vegas, NV – May 6, 2025

Veteran Benefits Guide CEO and Co-Founder Josh Smith made the following statement on the U.S. House Veterans’ Affairs Committee’s passage of the Certified Help Options in Claims Expertise (CHOICE) for Veterans Act of 2025:

“VBG applauds the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee for passing the CHOICE for Veterans Act and thanks Chairman Bost and Representative Bergman for advancing this critical compromise legislation for our nation’s Veterans. The CHOICE for Veterans Act will protect Veterans from bad actors by establishing strict guardrails for private benefits services, including disclosure requirements, fee caps and privacy protections. At the same time, it allows Veterans to continue using honorable private services, like VBG, to get the help they need in navigating the VA’s bureaucratic and confusing disability claims process. And it provides a pathway for good actors to become accredited and come under the oversight of the VA. This is smart legislation that protects Veterans while respecting their choice. We urge the full Congress to pass this bill as soon as possible.”
