OP-ED: DALLAS MORNING NEWS – Veterans should be allowed to use private services when applying for disability benefits

On June 16, the Dallas Morning News published an opinion column by retired Army Major General Albert Zapanta where he voiced his support for compromise legislation like the CHOICE for Veterans Act that establishes guardrails to protect Veterans from bad actors while still allowing Veterans to use private services to get help in applying for VA disability benefits.

He wrote: “If a former major general like me can have an experience like this, Ican only imagine that countless other Veterans are similarly being mistreated and underrated by the VA… No one is saying that Veterans have to pay for private services, only that the option should be available to them if they choose to pay for it.”
